Hey Ya’ll,
I’m working on a new book for young people who are in danger of losing their faith. You’ve probably heard the alarming statistic that 60% of those raised in church will leave church attendance by their 30th birthday.
Writing is the hardest thing to do in any language. Creating a new book is also a spiritual action if you are doing it in the interest of the Kingdom of God. It invites no small amount of what many creators call “resistance.”
I am really battling to pull this book together. I’m on my third writing of it. I get up at 5:30 or 6 AM daily and go to work on it, so it’s not a lack of commitment.
I’ll keep showing up but I am asking you as one of my readers to pray for me right now. Pray for clarity of mind and for me to be able to enter into the mindset of those under 35 right now and bring them the help they need as they assess the true failures of the Christianity around them while being bombarded with “the narrative” the world wants to feed them 8 hours a day. I want to walk with them through the necessary critique and offer a way to rebuild their faith, doctrine, spirituality solely on the teachings and example of Jesus.
The book is called “ReJesus Everything.”
I’m actually staying with Sherry on the campus of Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington for the next two weeks so we’re literally surrounded by young people in their early adult development. It’s a great environment for working on this creation, but maybe that’s what’s also causing the upheaval I’m feeling inside and perhaps in the unseen realm.
Here’s the Introductory paragraph:
Faith in the Age of Unraveling
We are living in the in-between. The old world, with its familiar structures and predictable order, is visibly crumbling around us. We stand on the edge of a new, unknown world order, and the space between is one of chaos and upheaval. The very fabric of life is beginning to unravel around us.
To simply hold together our mental health, relationships, family, and career in a world so destabilized takes most of our energy. But for many of us, there is an even deeper crisis unfolding. Our faith, the very anchor that should hold us steady in the storm, is also under unprecedented pressure. For many, it is failing.
What are we to do when the foundations of our world and the foundations of our faith are crumbling at the same time?
This is a critical question that cannot be ignored any longer. It is the question that this book is dedicated to answering.
It’s easy to point out the problems. I want to write a book of hope to a generation that is really struggling. Thanks for helping me out with prayer.
In this together!
Chuck
I will be praying for you!
